Our Services

We don't do every type of roofing — just copper, and we do it well. Here's what we actually work on day-to-day.

01 — Installation

Copper Roof Installation

We cut and bend the panels on-site — no pre-fab shortcuts. Standing seam on steeper pitches, flat-lock where the roof calls for it. Either way, done right.

02 — Restoration

Historic Restoration

A lot of old homes in Old Louisville and Cherokee Triangle have copper that's been badly patched. We fix it properly — matching the original profile, right gauge, soldered correctly.

03 — Gutters

Copper Gutters & Downspouts

Half-round copper gutters, custom-built to fit your fascia. They flow better than aluminum, look better, and honestly look even better once they've turned green.

04 — Repairs

Flashing & Leak Repairs

Most leaks come from bad step flashing or a chimney caulked three times instead of re-flashed once. We cut it out and do it in copper — doesn't need touching again.

05 — Ornamental

Cupolas & Ornamental Work

Custom copper cupolas, finials, cresting — built from scratch in our shop. If you've seen a good-looking cupola somewhere in Louisville, there's a decent chance it's ours.

06 — Commercial

Commercial Copper Roofing

We've done churches, bank buildings, schools, and government work around Jefferson County. Commercial copper is slower and more detailed — we don't rush it and don't sub it out.

Why We Only
Work in Copper

People ask us all the time if we do regular shingles. We don't. We learned copper in the early '80s and it's all we've done since. Once you understand the material, it's hard to go back — there's nothing else that performs this well over time in a Kentucky climate.

Ask Us Anything

You won't roof it again

We've got customers whose parents had us put their roof on in the '90s. They've never touched it. A shingle roof in Louisville is lucky to go 20 years without issues — copper genuinely lasts a century if the flashing is done right.

It changes color — and that's the point

Fresh copper looks like a new penny. After a few years it browns. After 10–15, you start seeing the green. People see that green on old buildings in Old Louisville and think it's paint. It's not — it's just the copper doing what it does, and it's actually protecting itself.

You stop spending money on your roof

Most of our customers were paying $800–2,000 every few years fixing shingle problems. Once they go copper, that stops completely. The upfront cost is real, but so is never having to call a roofer again for minor stuff.

No black streaks, no moss, ever

Louisville summers are humid. You've seen those black streaks on asphalt roofs — that's algae. Moss loves to grow in the shaded north-facing valleys. Copper is naturally resistant to all of it. Never need zinc strips or chemical washes.

What People Around Louisville Say

★★★★★

"Our place on Longest Ave needed the whole roof done — it had been patched so many times the decking was getting soft in spots. They came out, didn't try to oversell us, told us exactly what needed doing. Took about a week. Looks better than it probably ever has."

MH
Margaret H. Cherokee Triangle, Louisville
★★★★★

"We have a 1924 church up in the Highlands and the steeple copper was in bad shape — someone had put caulk over everything and it was just a mess. These guys stripped it back and did it right. They didn't try to talk us into something fancier than we needed. Honest work."

PR
Pastor Ron D. Highlands, Louisville
★★★★★

"I just wanted gutters — didn't know what I was getting into with copper. They walked me through the whole thing, no pressure. Called Monday, had a number Tuesday, they showed up Thursday. My neighbors have already asked who did it."

JB
James B. Crescent Hill, Louisville
★★★★★

"I had the same asphalt roof patched three times in eight years. Finally got tired of it. The copper's been on seven years now and I haven't thought about my roof once since they left. That's worth a lot."

SK
Susan K. Indian Hills, Louisville
★★★★★

"We own a building on W Main and it needed new copper on the cornice and front section. They were careful with the stonework, kept the place tidy every day, and the finished product is better than I expected. Old Louisville people keep asking who did it."

Just a Small Crew That Knows Copper

Started this in '87. Back then it was me and my brother-in-law, one truck, and a shop in Jeffersontown. We did mostly gutters and flashing at first — copper was harder to sell back then. People thought it was just for government buildings.

We grew slowly. Didn't take on more than we could handle. Still don't. These days we're a team of eight — most of them have been with us at least ten years. That matters with copper because it takes a long time to really learn the material. There are no shortcuts to a tight seam.

We've done a lot of work in Old Louisville, the Highlands, Crescent Hill, Cherokee Triangle. We've worked on churches, old bank buildings on 4th Street, private homes going back to the 1880s. It's good work. We're proud of it.

Frequently Asked Questions

We get asked these a lot. Here are honest answers from people who've been doing this for 35+ years.

It's more expensive, no question. A full copper roof might run 3 to 5 times what you'd pay for quality architectural shingles. The honest answer is — if you're planning to sell in a few years, it might not pencil out. But if you're staying put, or it's an older home you're trying to keep up right, copper makes a lot of sense. You're basically buying the last roof the house will ever need.

A well-installed copper roof will go well over a hundred years. We've seen Louisville copper from the 1910s that's still solid. The freeze-thaw cycles we get here — warm January, hard February — those kill asphalt over time. Copper handles it fine because it moves with temperature changes without cracking or lifting. The humid summers help the patina develop faster, which is actually a good thing — the patina is protecting the metal underneath.

Yeah, pretty much any style. It obviously looks at home on the older Victorians in Cherokee Triangle and Old Louisville — those houses were built with copper in mind. But we've also done it on newer builds, ranches, craftsman homes out in Anchorage. The profile you choose (standing seam vs. flat-lock vs. shingles) makes a big difference in how it reads on the building. That's part of what we talk through when we come look at your place.

Most residential jobs — let's say a 2,000 square-foot roof with normal complexity — run about four to six days. Your house with multiple dormers or a lot of valley work takes longer. Restoration jobs with a lot of historical detailing can take two to three weeks. We'll give you a realistic timeline up front. Weather happens — this is Louisville — and we'll call you if something changes, not just show up days later without warning.

Permits, yes — we pull them and deal with Louisville Metro directly. For HOAs we'll put together whatever packet they need: material specs, color samples, photos of comparable work. If you're in a historic overlay district in Old Louisville or the Highlands, we know the Historic Preservation Commission process pretty well at this point. We've been through it a bunch of times and can walk you through what to expect.

50 years on our workmanship. We write it in the contract and we mean it. We've been operating continuously in Louisville since 1987 — this isn't a company that's going to fold and leave you holding paperwork. The copper material comes with its own manufacturer warranty on top of that. If something goes wrong with our work, we fix it. Simple as that.
